Community Impacts

The Port has invested significant resources to enhance the waterfront and build the positive reputation of Port Alberni to attract visitors and business investors, alike.  Specifically, over $11 million has been invested by the Port and its funding partners at Island Coastal Economic Trust, City of Port Alberni and Small Craft Harbours into the development of Centennial Pier and Tyee Landing and Pier.  These investments have dramatically enhanced the public’s access to the waterfront and have attracted new businesses like Pacific Seaplanes who offer scheduled seaplane service between Vancouver Airport, Port Alberni and Bamfield-Tofino-Ucluelet as well as Swept Away Inn and a new marine fuel operator.  Additionally, Tyee Landing, brought new energy as a new location for the annual Port Alberni Salmon Festival.   The Port has made other investments to its marinas and campground that help to better serve locals and visitors.

PAPA has promoted Port Alberni as a unique destination to visit, live and do business at numerous events, conferences and marketing efforts throughout British Columbia, Canada and internationally.  We are proud to serve Port Alberni and many others are discovering the opportunities our community has to offer.
